The mission of the Orcas Island Literary Festival is to bring together people who love to read books with the authors who love to write them. April 13 to 15, 2018, festival goers will be able to participate in dynamic panel discussions, writing workshops, and our lit crawl, featuring exciting new literary voices, New York Times bestselling and Pulitzer-prize winning authors, beloved regional writers, award-winning poets, and publishers on beautiful Orcas Island.
The Orcas Island Lit Festival is in partnership with Orcas Center. The majority of featured panel conversations and the Book Fair will all take place at Orcas Center, on Center Stage or in the Black Box. Our Preferred Bookseller and sponsor, Darvill's, will have books available in the lobby. The Festival's Friday evening Lit Walk will take place in the village of Eastsound, along with Battle of The Genres at Oddfellows Hall and our Eco-Sapiens panel at Seaview Theatre.
Early Bird Pricing for Weekend Festival Passes is $65. We have a very limited number of passes available, so please reserve your tickets. Family Fest tickets are free but reserving tickets online is recommended to ensure admittance. Battle of the Genre is a separately ticketed evening event ($10). Purchase tickets online.
Calendar will be updated as we confirm participation by authors, poets and literary influencers.
Support The Literary Arts ON ORCAS
The Orcas Island Literary Festival is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to an annual world-class literary festival on Orcas Island organized by passionate volunteers. However, we can only succeed with the help of our fellow islanders and sponsors. The commitment by private citizens and the long-valued philanthropic notion of noblesse oblige is a long-standing tradition on our island and it is the thing that will make the festival a true success for years to come. To become a festival patron, please donate to our cause.
Exclusive writing workshops with respected authors, editors and book whisperers.
AUTHOR PANELS + READINGS
Meet your current favorite authors and poets and future ones, too. Writers and publishers who are interested in participating in next year's festival may apply for consideration.
Meet children authors and enjoy readings, unique kid literary activities, and public readings by kids, for kids in connection with our Orcas Island Public Library.
A great way to support a shoulder-season festival that benefits Orcas Island local merchants, regional travel organizations, authors, and the readers who love them.
BOOK FAIR TABLES
Publishers, presses, authors and literary retreats and organizations may purchase table space in our festival book fair hosted at Orcas Center, our main venue.
