Beloved and award-winning YA (Young Adult) authors Lilliam Rivera, Jennifer Longo and Michele Bacon, share their work and their writing journey with all ages.   [Orcas Center Main Stage] YA authors will also be holding a conversation with Novel Lab kids on the YA genre and writing during our Family Fest.


More than 30 critically-acclaimed writers and emerging voices read their work at charming venues throughout Eastsound Village.

Kids Open Mic with Novel Lab at the Historical Museum
Middle school novelists from Orcas Island Middle School, Salmonberry, the Christian School and Spring Street (Lael, Gray, August, Kathryn A., Cailin, Ellie W., Kiyomi) lead a fun and moving open mic, reading the openings to their YA novels created in Novel Lab, a not-for-profit workshop led by published authors. Orcas Island elementary homeschoolers (Cienna R., Hayes R., Colt, Mira J., Soliana H.) will also be reading poetry. If your kid would like to read a piece of writing or a poem, please email us their work by Thursday, March 29.
